Mistral sales to Russia by Egypt pure nonsense - Kremlin
ARAB GAZETTE - CAIRO ..
Polish Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz's claim that Egypt sold
two French Mistral warships to Russia for one dollar is nonsense,
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Friday. He added that the Polish
side was basing its claims on unreliable sources.
On Thursday in the Polish Sejm (lower house) Macierewicz said the
ships, which were to be sold to Egypt after France's withdrawal from a
deal with Russia in connection with the unresolved Ukraine crisis, were
resold to Russia by Egypt for one US dollar.
Commenting Macierewicz's words in a TV interview, Peskov said the
Polish side had its information from "unsure sources" and opined that
the minister's statement could be ascribed to the "overemotional
atmosphere in Warsaw over recent weeks".
The ships, initially to be supplied to Russia towards the end of
2014, were to be purchased by Egypt after France made the deal dependent
on the resolution of the Ukraine conflict under pressure from allies.
