Cedars International Festival kicks off in Bcharre, pays tribute to Khalil Gebran
In her opening speech, MP Strida Geagea renewed determination to entrench the Lebanese further in their land and their nation.
"We will proudly and certainly hold this festival every year, from the Cedars of God forest, to revive Lebanon's glory, heritage, and art," she said.
"We shall carry on spreading the concepts of freedom, arts, and joy throughout Lebanon that is suffering, as well as throughout this dark East that is engulfed wit extremism, violence, anarchy, and terrorism," she added.
Fireworks later went off, before Lebanese icon Majida Roumi appeared on stage, and opened the festival's first night.
