Bahrain, Thailand sign medical agreement

The Thai Prince of Songkla University has today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health. Health Minister Faeqa bin Said Al-Saleh sealed the agreement with The Thai Prince of Songkla University, Ass. Professor Dr. Niwat Keawpradub during a ceremony held at the Gulf Hotel.
The deal reflects the ministry’s drive to consolidate fruitful cooperation with outstanding overseas medical universities and develop the health sector in Bahrain to keep abreast of modern trends. She stressed the importance of the memorandum of understanding in strengthening cooperation between Bahrain and Thailand, in all fields, especially the health sector, in line with the reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
She expressed delight at developing this partnership with Thailand, lauding the directives of HM the King, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier to expand joint cooperation in the health and medical sectors in Bahrain.
The memorandum of understanding focuses on aspects of joint cooperation, which includes the Overseas Visiting Doctor scheme, patients’ treatment abroad, training programmes and other health fields. The Thai Prince of Songkla University’s delegation visited the Halat Boumaher Health Centre and were briefed on medical services, including the I-Seha programme.
